As the norm for every formal meeting, the preliminary stage of the meeting was observed and notable among it was the welcome address by Hon. Presiding Member, a minute silence for the demise of Hon. Bruce Nyarko, Assembly member for Amaako electoral area, reading, correction and approval of the previous minute and subsequent acceptance of the agenda.
The honorable Presiding member ushered the house into action with his welcome address. In his welcome address, he admonished the house to observe all protocols and contribute their part to make the meeting a successful one.
The meeting which lasted 4 hours saw a series of addresses and reports from various departmental heads.
The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Seth Oduro Boadu, presented the Sessional Address, the Executive committee report and the Presentation of Auditor Generals Management Letter for 2022.
The house discussed the reports given by the Municipal Chief Executive which most assembly members commended the management of the assembly on the successes chalked which includes the Ghana Secondary Cities support program, the municipals’ performance during the 2021 District Assemblies Performance Assessment Tool (DPAT) and the positive feedback from the auditors’ report.
The house subsequently accepted the Executive Committee report and their commendations.
The presentations continued with the Public Relations And Complaints Committee report from the Hon. Presiding Member who is the chairman of the committee. This was followed by a Member of Parliaments’ address, Public Utility Regulation Commission (PURC), a Presentation by the Ghana National Fire Service on fire safety and prevention, a Presentation on the Livelihood Empowerment Programme Against Poverty (LEAP), and a Presentation on Property Rate implementation.
Hon. Assembly member, Mr. Emmanuel Asumang was appointed to the Executive Committee and Mrs. Rosemond Owusu Boadi was maintained as a representative of the assembly members on the Executive Committee.
In attendance was the Hon. MCE for West Akim Municipal Assembly, the Hon. Presiding Member, the Coordinating Director, the Deputy Coordinating Director, the Commander of Police for the municipality, heads of department, Honourable Assembly Members and some staff of the Assembly.
