Opening ceremony of the 2021 Population and Housing Census, West Akim Municipal

The training sessions of prospective field officers for the 2021 Population and Housing Census got underway with an official opening ceremony at the Asamankese Senior High School on the May 31, 2021. The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Seth Oduro Boadu gave the welcoming address and in his speech encouraged the audience to ensure due diligence in the dispensation of their core duties when selected. He brought to the fort the dire consequences of generating false data as this would go a long way in distorting the appropriateness of planning and development in the West Akim Municipality.

The Municipal Census Implementation Committee, chaired by the Municipal Coordinating Director with other members were present at the occasion. The chair, on behalf of the Committee also gave a word to the prospective field officers.

 Hon. Seth Oduro Boadu Delivering a speech at the 30-days to the 2021 Population and Housing Census Night event

On Friday 28th May 2021, the President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the 30 days to Census Night countdown for the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC). The event was held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra. The ceremony was also held at the district level throughout the country and this was organized at the West Akim Municipal Assembly Hall with the Honorable Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Seth Oduro Boadu as the Guest Speaker.

The 30-day countdown to the census marks a critical milestone in the 100 days to Census Night implementation. It marks the start of a massive publicity campaign to sensitize the public on the census and education them the benefits, processes, and outputs of the census exercise. In attendance were heads of decentralized Departments and Agencies as well as Civil Society Organizations including the National Ambulance Service, Information Service Department, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana Hoteliers Association, the clergy amongst others. The event thus unveiled the publicity materials that Ghana Statistical Service will be using for the publicity campaign including the information sheets, posters, fliers, and jingles.
