WEST AKIM MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY STAFF EMBARKS ON REVENUE COLLECTION EXERCISE
As a follow-up to the enforcement in revenue payment in the West Akim municipality, the Assembly staff have extended its revenue collection to other areas outside Asamankese. Defaulting traders paid their rates to prevent their stores being locked as the staff were poised for the collection of the revenue. During the operation it was detected that more traders were unaware of the period of payment of rates. According to them, they thought they were to pay rates once but not periodical. Those traders bemoaned that the Assembly embarked on periodical sensitisation for more traders to be aware that the rates were not to be paid just once. Stores of defaulting traders were locked as a result of inability to pay their rates. Heads of department, and unit led teams for the operation in the various communities within the municipality.
