WEST AKIM MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY HANDS OVER CLASSROOM BLOCK
As part of government’s effort in ensuring infrastructural development, the West Akim Municipal Assembly has handed over a 3-unit classroom block to the Onyinafunso community.
The edifice was funded through the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) and the Responsive Factor Grant (RFG) at an estimated cost of GHC502,000.
Handing over the edifice (Onyinafunso M/A Primary School) to the community, the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Seth Oduro Boadu, said education was one of the priority areas of the government and for that matter very salient to ensuring that no community in Ghana was deprived of educational facility.
At the short ceremony, the MCE charged the community and school authorities to be adherents to maintenance culture of the edifice.
He said the Hon. Member of Parliament, Charles Acheampong was lobbying to extend electricity to the community, adding that, in no time the inhabitants of Onyinafunso would be enjoying electricity.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Eunice Amfo-Akonnor expressed gratitude to the municipal assembly for the gesture.
She said though her outfit needed a 6-unit classroom block for the community, yet, she was joyful, and hopeful that at least the 3-unit was better than none.
The education director expressed joy over what she described as the 3-unit classroom block comprising modern facility, adding that the authorities should inculcate maintenance culture to prolong its span.
The Hon. Assembly Member for the area, Mr. Ntow expressed joy over the gesture and appealed to the inhabitants of the Onyinafunso community to rally support for the government in its development effort.
