The West Akim Municipal Assembly has sensitised traders within the municipality to rid the shoulders of the road of their wares.

The sensitisation exercise comes on the heels of motor accident occurrence along the shoulder of the main Accra-Asamankese road.

Though there had been public announcement through van for traders to desist from displaying their wares at the shoulder of the road, yet, the situation persisted causing worry to the management of the Assembly.

The street intensified sensitisation was led by the Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Seth Oduro Boadu, who urged traders to relocate their wares at a distance behind the shoulders of the road.

In a street announcement the West Akim Municipal Director of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), sensitised traders to desist from erecting temporary structures or displaying their wares on the roads.

He noted, that, a task force would be deplored to ensure sanity on the road.

The NCCE Director, in the street sensitisation warned, that, traders who flouted the need for environmental compliance would have their wares confiscated, compelling the Assembly to charge them “heavy” fines.

The team comprised the West Akim Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Paul MacOfori, some heads of department, and unit.
