FOOD VENDORS HEALTH EDUCATION

The West Akim Health Directorate as part of it’s effort to protect and promote the health of it citizens embarked on food vendors education and sensitisation to ensure they operate under hygienic conditions for food safety in the municipality. The education and sensitisation involved medical screening of food vendors, inspection of premises of the vendors, health education on radio and Certification of medically fit Vendors . The objective was to assist in meeting the requirement on Public Health Act, 2012 (Act 851) which required that food handlers demonstrate an appropriate level of competence in food hygiene.
