The farmers in the West Akim Municipality have received Agro chemicals under a subsidy of 50% from the Member of Parliament for Lower West Akim Constituency.

Mr. Kingsley Omane Awuah, secretary to the New Patriotic Party in the Lower West Akim constituency, on behalf of the Hon. MP, Charles Acheampong presented 50 boxes of Agro chemicals which consisted of 600 liters, to the Director of Agriculture in the West Akim Municipal at the forecourt of the Department of Agriculture.

The items included Parabest, Sunphosate, Glyking 480SL, Nwura Wura, Gramospara, Sun – Paraquat, and Crownquat.

Mr. Omane Awuah said the MP has fulfilled his promise made to farmers in the municipality during his engagement with them in the month of February, and March this year.

The MP promised to subsidize the agrochemicals at the Department of Agriculture by 50% and the farmers would only pay 50% of the market price.

He added that this initiative will motivate the farmers in the Municipality to elevate their farm produce.

The agrochemicals were presented to the Agriculture Department on 18th May 2023.

The West Akim Director of Agriculture, Mr. Daniel Oduro in his acceptance speech, expressed his profound gratitude to the MP’s initiative and fulfilling his promise.

He said the farmers in the Municipality would massively patronize the agrochemicals with the rest of the 50% to improve upon their farms. He also commented that all the chemicals would be sold to the farmers at the 50% rate for it to be used for the intended purposes.

Members present were some members of the New Patriotic Party, Staff of the Department of Agriculture, and the Information Services Department.
