The West Akim Municipal Assembly has, over the past two days, embarked on a series of sod-cutting ceremonies aimed at improving the quality of life for residents across the municipality through the expansion of critical social infrastructure.

The projects, which cut across the education, health, water, and sanitation sectors, are expected to enhance access to essential services in several communities within the municipality. Beneficiary communities include Nkurakan and Quarshie, where new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds will be constructed to strengthen healthcare delivery. St. Thomas Senior High School is also among the beneficiary institutions, while Zion Primary School is set to receive a new classroom block to improve teaching and learning conditions.

In the area of water provision, communities such as Israel, Alimakojo, Nyankomase, Osenase RC, Densuakwa, and Kyei Krom will benefit from the installation of mechanized boreholes to ensure access to safe and reliable drinking water.

Leading the exercise was the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Paulina Akabila, accompanied by a delegation from the Assembly. Addressing residents and stakeholders during the ceremonies, she urged beneficiary communities to take ownership of the projects and ensure their proper maintenance upon completion to guarantee long-term sustainability.

Chiefs, elders, and assembly members from the beneficiary communities expressed their appreciation to the Assembly for its continued commitment to improving livelihoods through the provision of essential social amenities and infrastructure.
