The West Akim Municipal Assembly has taken delivery of 10,000 day-old chicks under the Government’s Nkoko Nketekete Initiative spearheaded by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

The birds arrived in the Municipality on Saturday, 21st February 2026, marking a significant step in advancing local poultry production and strengthening food security.

Currently, the chicks are being housed at two designated farms: Kakoase Farms in Nkurakan and Ama Boateng Farms at Owuram. These facilities will oversee the brooding process to ensure optimal growth and survival.

The birds will be brooded for a period of five weeks, after which they will be distributed to duly registered farmers across the Municipality.

This intervention is expected to enhance poultry farming capacity, create economic opportunities, and contribute to sustainable agricultural development in West Akim according to the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Paulina Akabila.

Further updates on the distribution process will be communicated in due course
