The West Akim Municipal Assembly, in collaboration with the National Youth Authority, has presented learning kits to the first batch of the beneficiaries under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP).

The presentation ceremony was held on Tuesday, 3rd March 2026, at the Municipal Assembly Hall. The support forms part of government’s commitment to youth empowerment and job creation, in line with a key pledge made by President John Dramani Mahama ahead of the 2024 general elections.

A total of four fashion designers, two seamstress master craftsmen and their thirty apprentices received essential tools, including industrial sewing machines, hair dryers and other equipment to support their training. The items are expected to strengthen vocational skills development and improve opportunities for self-employment within the municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Paulina Akabila, encouraged the master trainers to put the equipment to good use by offering quality training to their apprentices.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciation was expressed to the Assembly and partners, with a commitment to make good use of the support to improve their skills and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.

The event was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Moses Kobla Joshua; the Eastern Regional NAP Coordinator, Mr. Emmanuel Asante Ofori; the Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority, Mr. Robert Ofosu Agyei; and staff of the Assembly.
