The West Akim Municipal Assembly taskforce on behalf of the Public Health Emergency Management Committee (PHEMC) distributed nose masks to inhabitants in the municipality as part of efforts to making them to protecting themselves in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The gesture was the Assembly’s response to the apathy the inhabitants showed towards the wearing of the nose mask.
The Hon. Municipal Chief Executive, Seth Oduro Boadu who led the exercise said it was imperative for the inhabitants to guard themselves against the deadly disease by adhering to protective protocols.
The MCE urged the inhabitants to always observe the protocols, adding that it was very necessary for everyone to wear nose mask as one of the protective measures to fighting the pandemic.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Paul McOfori, ensured that everyone present at the distribution area had a nose mask.
He admonished the beneficiaries to always wear the mask wherever they went.
There was a mad rush for the nose mask during distribution denoting that some of the inhabitants could not afford the ones on sale.
In an exclusive interview with a 58-year old woman, she was grateful to the municipal assembly for the gesture.
According to her it was very difficult for her to have a square meal a day let alone, being able to afford a nose mask to protect herself.
The municipal Assembly had been so concerned with employing pragmatic effort in the fight against the pandemic.

The assembly was poised in its swift response with alacrity, resilience, and tenacity ensuring that the municipality was safe of the pandemic.
