The West Akim Municipal Health Directorate commensurated the Child Health Promotion Week in Asamankese, the municipal capital from the 11th May to 17th May, 2020. The theme for the 2020 celebration was Promoting newborn and Child Health services in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the ban on public gathering, the directorate did a virtue launch of the week long activity at the conference room of the directorate.

Delivery the keynote address, the Municipal health Director, Dr. Samuel Boateng, mentioned that, the child health promotion week was an animal celebration which took place at the second week of May each year to highlight and sensitize the public on the need for integrated child health interventions. He reiterated that, the services were supposed to be delivered free of charge to encourage patronage and also to take advantage and educate mother and care givers of children on the available interventions and practices that boost the health of children.
