The West Akim Municipal Assembly has successfully held its 2nd Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the 2nd Session of the 9th Assembly, in line with the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936).
The session was filled with fruitful discussions, insightful contributions, and key resolutions to advance development across the Municipality.

During her address, Hon. Paulina Akabila, the Municipal Chief Executive, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Assembly Members, staff, security agencies, stakeholders, and the good people of West Akim for their continued support and cooperation.
She also shared key achievements and ongoing initiatives under her leadership as captured under the following thematic areas:
๐’๐š๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐š๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐š๐ง๐ ๐‚๐ฅ๐ž๐š๐ง ๐„๐ง๐ฏ๐ข๐ซ๐จ๐ง๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ:
West Akim is steadily becoming one of Ghanaโ€™s cleanest municipalities. Regular cleanup exercises, community participation, and plans to deploy mobile refuse vans are all driving this vision forward.
๐‘๐จ๐š๐ ๐’๐š๐Ÿ๐ž๐ญ๐ฒ:
To improve road safety, especially following recent incidents in Asamankese, alternative routes for heavy-duty vehicles have been identified. A WAMA Sanitation Taskforce has also been inaugurated to maintain discipline on walkways.
๐‚๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ฌ:
Tender processes are ongoing for several major projects, including:
โ— 6-unit and 2-unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities at Bunso-Asamankese
โ— CHPS compounds and staff quarters at Odjarde and Nkurakan
โ— 7 mechanized boreholes in selected communities
โ— Completion of ongoing Middle Belt projects at Amaako and Nkurakan
๐…๐ข๐ ๐ก๐ญ ๐€๐ ๐š๐ข๐ง๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ˆ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐š๐ฅ ๐Œ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐ง๐ :
A special taskforce has been set up to combat illegal mining, working hand in hand with chiefs, concession owners, and security agencies to reclaim degraded lands and protect water bodies.
๐„๐ฆ๐ฉ๐จ๐ฐ๐ž๐ซ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐ƒ๐ข๐ฌ๐š๐›๐ข๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ž๐ฌ (๐๐–๐ƒ๐ฌ):
The Assembly disbursed items and cash worth GHC 250,000 to 58 beneficiaries, supporting them to become self-reliant and economically active.
๐๐จ๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‹๐จ๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐„๐œ๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐œ ๐†๐ซ๐จ๐ฐ๐ญ๐ก:
Plans are underway for a Trade Show during the Obuodwan Festival to promote local businesses. The Assemblyโ€™s aquaculture project at Bunso Junction with 15,000 fingerlings stocked is also set to enhance employment and internally generated funds (IGF).
In her closing remarks, Hon. Paulina Akabila reaffirmed her commitment to inclusive and equitable development, urging all stakeholders to remain united for the continued progress of the Municipality.
โ€œIt is my hope that the issues raised in my address will be discussed dispassionately and objectively to bring about the needed development for our people.โ€ the Hon. MCE reiterated while ending her speech.
All presented documents and resolutions were unanimously adopted by the house.
